The services of the Carterton Volunteer Corps have been accepted by the Governor.
At a meeting of the Carterton United Friendly Societies' Sports Committee, ou Friday night, Bros. C. Reid, J. Johnson, E. McKenzie, W. Campbell, J. Nicholls, E. Wall is and G. Stone were appointed a Committee to arrange tbe social and dance to be held on Boxing Night. A number of cyclists, for breaking the Carterton Borough by-laws, will appear iv the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Two cases against residents for failing to notify scarlet fever will flfcyilso be beard. ''!• Latest South Wairarapa stock quotations are:—Tearing heifers £1 16s, bulls £1 to £2 2s (id, ewes and lambs 19s Od, small shorn hoggets 12s 4d, medium 15s 3d, breeding sows 235, boars £1 Gs to £1 10s, weaners 13s Gd. The Featherston Methodist Church held a very enjoyable picnic on Saturday, in the Domain, when the attendance was good and the weather perfect.
