A mob of seven hundred Down cross lambs were .sent away from Mr R. Cooper's farm, on Wednesday, to the Gear .Company. During the last week over one thousand sheep were sent from here for freezing purposes.
A large gathering of Natives assembled at Hurunuiorangi during the week to hold a taniji over the late Mrs Payne (mother of Alice Mahupuku), who died some time ago at Flat Point.
The settlers at Longbush, with the exception of Messrs Hodge and Bannister, completed shearing operations on Friday.
The friends of Mr A. Johnson will be pleased to learn that, after undergoing an operation in the Greytown Hospital, on Tuesday, he is able to be about again, and will shortly be able to leave that institution.
The work of grading the Longbush roads is to be commenced on Monday.
