WAIRARAPA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society was held in the Exchange Building, yesterday afternoon. Present: Mr R. T. Holmes (chairman), Mrs Nicholis, Messrs E. Feist and J. Morris.
The action of the chairman in sending a man, requiring a month's rest,to the RenallSolway Home, was confirmed.
An applicant was granted 10s 6d a week until next meeting, the case being considered to be deserving. A widow asked to be allowed assistance with rations, but it was reported she had refused work offered to her without giving a sufficient reason for so doing. The Chairman had granted assistance and his action was confirmed, but it was decided to discontinue giving further relief.
Accounts for the month amounted to £67 19s Bd, £38 15s 8d being for charitable aid £14; 3s 7d on Renall-Solway Home, and £15 Os 5d maintenance of patients.
