The Position in France.

Paris, Yesterday.

The French bishops have warned their dioceses not to participate in tho formation of associations cultuelles (associations of public worship).

The Bishop of Coutancos has threatened to excommunicate any persons who participate in these associations.

M. Briaud, Minister for Public Worship, stated to an interviewer that two thousand churches had become tho property of tho State, though the church was allowed free use of them for worship. Sixteen million pounds' worth of church property would bo sequestrated, and tho interest used to maintain religious edifices.
