We said the other day that we should not be satisfied unless the population of the Borough of Masterton totalled 5000. We now learn that it comes to 5003, and this, without counting the old Outer Ward of the Borough and the 488 people of Lansdowne. The fact is the population of Masterton has advanced more rapidly of late years than that of any country town in New Zealand. The result of the census shows that practically this town, with its suburbs, has a population of six thousand persons.
