Political Address up North.

{By Telegraph — Press Association.) Pukekohe, Last Night.

Mr W. F. Massey spoke at Pukekohe, last night, this being his first address. A memorial, with nineteen hundred signatures, was presented, absolving him from the necessity of addressing all but a few places, as a testimony of confidence. A presentation was also made by the Pukekohe Cricket Club of a pipe.

Mr Massey reviewed the past session, and outlined thp policy of the Opposition, embracing —increase of control by Parliament of the finances, restoration of the powers of tho Audit-General, repeal of the Public Revenue Act, placing the whole of the Government Departments under the Audit Department, an elective Legislative Council, a Public Service Board, affording an opportunity of acquiring the freehold to all classes.

Mr Grey, Liberal and Labour Organiser, was present, and asked the Member questions, as did others, amid a perfect storm of mingled cheers and hoots.

A vote of thanks and confidence was proposed, and an amendment of thanks only and of confidence in tho Government was also proposed, but the latter was declared not seconded, and the motion was declared carried by the Chairman amid uproar, in which the meeting broke up.
