Manawatu Touring Team.

Alleged Misbehaviour in

Wellington

Further Evidence.

Some Suspensions Removed.

The Rugby Union met again in Palmerston, on Friday night, lo try and probe a little deeper into the alleged misconduct of tho rep. team that went clown to Wellington recently. The members of tho committee present were Messrs Gibbons (in tho chair), Manson, Nash, Foote, Manning, Warden. Freeman, Richards, and Midler.

Before the players were called in, the chairman said that from evidence which Mr Manning was going to bring forward tho onus of tho disturbance would bo thrown upon some individual members of tho team.

It was thought best by some to call tho players who were implicated into the room singly, while other wanted to hear the out-

side witnesses first so that they could get hold of what the charges were! .

Finally, Mr Manning's suggestion to call in the accused players first was adopted, and it was decided to have them in one by one.

Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from L. Skelley, Fume and A. McMinn, who had each been notified to appear.

The examination-in-chief was undertaken by Mr J. Manning, who had gone to considerable trouble in collecting his evidence.

After different members of the team had given their version of what occurred, the cross-examination revealing some rather discreditable incidents, they were requested to withdraw, and the committee proceeded to consult as to what was to be done.

Mr Manning wanted the inquiry adjourned as he had some evidence to get from the players who had failed to put in an appearance.

Mr Foote moved and Mr Manson seconded that the suspension be removed from all except A. and G. McMinn, Johnston and Kinzett. Some dicussion ensued, and finally the motion was altered to read that the suspension be at once removed from Stalker, Scott, Galloway, L. Skelley, Furrie, AYard and Munro, and that the suspension of Adams and McNae be removed upon them appearing before the Union, or giving a satisfactory reason for non-attendance.

The players whose suspensions remain, besides the two last mentioned, are Johnston, Kinzett, A. and G. McMinn.

The meeting then adjourned till Thursday

evening next
