TRAFALGAR DAY.

[Received This Morning, at 1.52 a.m.) London, Last Night,

There were great celebrations of the centenary of Trafalgar throughout the Empire.

Bishop Weldon conducted a service at the foot of the Nelson column in Trafalgar •Square. One hundred wreaths from all parts of the Empire were laid at the base. Twelve thousand people were present, inthe Agents-General. Thousands paraded the Square all di»y and evening filing past the column. Prince Edward of Wales and his brother, .when driving past, halted and saluted. 4fe Hundreds visited Nelson's tomb in St. Paul's.

A special ceremony took place aboard the old flagship Victory.

Lord Brassey presided over a great meeting in the Albert Hall

Lord Ranfurly presided at the Navy League banquet. The Hon. W. P. Reeves, High Commissioner for New Zealand, proposed " The Memory of Nelson." The British and Foreign Sailors' Society presented the French Municipal representatives with a piece of the Victory's oak, in memory of France's brave sailors who died at Trafalgar. The gift produced an excellent impression.

(Received This Morning, at 1.4 a.m.) Sydney, Last Night. The Trafalgar celebrations throughout the Commonwealth were mainly characterised by a plentiful display of bunting. The great grandson of Pasco, who hoisted the famous signal on the Victory, unfurled the signal at the naval concert at the Town Hall.

During the evening, Captain Hardy, nephew ♦ of the Captain of the Victory, was presented to Vice-Admiral Fanshawe. At Brisbane the grandson of Pasco unfurled the famous signal at the United Service Institution. In Melbourne, the Caulfield Cup overshadowed Trafalgar, though various demonstrations were held in the evening in commemoration of the great victory. The entente cordiale was in evidence by the general intertwining of the Union Jack and the Tricolour.

(Received To-day, at 0.30 a.m.) Hobart, This Day. Trafalgar day was celebrated with a profuse display of bunting.

Adelaide, This Day. Trafalgar day was enthusiastically observed, and various functions were held.
