TRAFALGAR DAY IN NELSON.

A Gubernatorial Visit,

An Imposing Procession.

Foundation Stone of New Nelson

College

(By Telegraph — Press Association.)

Nelson, This Day,

The weather has been dull, and one or two showers fell to-day, but not enough to

mar the proceedings

The. Governor, after a somewhat stormy passage, was received at the Port by the Mayor, and escorted by a procession of imposing dimensions to the town.

The chief function of the morning was laying the foundation stone of the new Nelson College to replace that burned last December. The new building will cost, £25,000.

The new edifice will have a facade a replica of the old one, and its general design will be similar, with various improvements.

The Governor was presented with a silver trowel and silver-mounted mallet bearing his arms and was afterwards entertained by the College Governors at luncheon.

The Nelson celebrations proper will take place this afternoon and there will be a torch light procession in the evening.
