FIRE POLICE.

Ordinary Meeting.

The ordinary meeting of the Fire Police and Salvage Corps was held last evening. 'Captain J. Dixon presided, and there was a large attendance of members. A letter was received, thanking the Corps for their assistance at the recent Carterton Fire Brigade Bazaar. Lieutenants Wilton and Budd were appointed delegates to the Masterton Card Tournament Association, and Secretary Lewis was appointed delegate to the Morristube Association. Constable Fielding was elected by ballot to the position of second Lieutenant, vice R. Dixon, resigned. It was decided to meet in future at 7.30 p.m., instead of 8 o'clock. Accounts were passed for payment. A paper entitled " Responsibilities of Delegates to the United Fire Brigades' Association of New Zealand " (by Superintendent E. Smith, of the Christehurch. City Fire Brigade), which, was placed before the recent Dunedin Conference, was read by the Secretary. An interesting resume of the business done at the Conference, and account of the trip to Dunedin was read by Secretary Lewis, who acted as the Corps' delegate. The delegate was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. At the conclusion of the meeting a very successful practice was held.
