Do not wash the face io hard vvafcer

If possible, use fi tered rain water, but .jfc as this is not so easy to get, soften the JpF" water by artificial means. HalE an ounc3 of powdered borax, Boz of almond meal, and 3oz of finely-ground oatmeal may be mixed together in a cheesecloth bag and dropped in a bowl of water. This, will soften it, and the complexion will be found much improved in consequence. An ounce of powdered orris root may be added to the mixture, giving it an cdor of violets. To cure redness of the hands, beat together one ounce of honey, one ounce of almond oil, the juice of a lemon, and the yolk of a raw egg. Apply at night to the hands, and cover with old gloves slit across the palms

A hot-water compress, just as hot as you can bear it, is the very thing to stop a cut from bleeding. Ordinary headaches almost always yield to the simultaneous application of lint water to the feet and back of the neck.

Nothing so promptly cuts short sore throat or rheumatism as hot water when applied early in the case, and thoroughly. It is always proper to throw the head back when the nose is bleeding, and a piece of paper put between the upper lip and the gum will stop the hemorrhage.
