MASTER TON PUBLIC LIBRARY.
At the meeting of the Library Committee yesterday, the Librarian reported that twenty one new books of fiction and six books of heavier reading had been added to the library. There were now 4824 books in tne library, and during the month 1624 books had" been lent out, ot which 1599 were works of fiction. The number of subscribers was now 236. The fees derived from rate-
payers were £'d 7s 6d, and non-rate« payers £4 ss, making a total of £1 12s 6d. The balance to the credit of the library on September 9 was JG6S Is lid. It was resolved to increase the librarian's salary to ;£BS per annum. It was also decided to recommend the Council to pay £lo per annum for rent ot offices and rooms. An account of 15s 9d was passed for payment. Mr Dolby brought before the meeting the being compelled to get increased modation, owing to the increased uM
