London Markets.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegrams from their London office: — Dated 17th inst. : " Tallow—Since the date of our last cablegram prices are unchanged for prime mutton and prime beef tallow, but other descriptions are on the average 6d per cwt. higher. The demand is chiefly for low and inferior descriptions. Wheat—The market is firm, with an improved tone. We quote tor shipments near at hand 81s 6d per quarter, and for shipment per seiner August September 32s 9d per quarter." Dated 18th inst. : "We quote isew Zealand beef, ox hinds, 180/2201bs fair average quality, -lid to 4fd per lb; ox tores, 2 7-Sd to 3d per lb. A further dechue is expected in pric:-s shortly. Canterbury mutton —Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 55/65lbs, fair average quality, 4|d per lb; North Island, 4d psr lb. There is a poor demand, but sellers are firm. New Zealand lambPrime Canterbury, 32/Mbs, s£d to 6:1 per lb ; North Island, 5 5 Sd to s£d per lb. There is a good demand for good and best qualities." Dated 18th inst. : " Butter—Since the date of our last cablegram, Danish butter is higher by 3 kroner (about 3s -id) per cwt. The market is very firm, and looks like improving. Cheese—Prices are higher, and we now quote New Zealand cheese, prime quality, 43s to 44s per cwfc."
