Wellington Wool and Skin Sales.
Messrs Levin and Co. report:— We offered on Friday '10 bales wool, 2600 skins, 200 bides, and tallow. Crutchings were if anything rather better in demand than last sale, superior selling at sfd, medium 5d to sid, inferior B£d to -Ud. Skins were in good demand and sold quite up to recent quotations. Wβ quota: — Sheepskins—Merinos Bid to 7d, halfbreds 6}d to Gijtl, lino crossbreds Gkl to 6£d,' coarse G-kl to G-:[-d, short wools 5-kl to Gd. dead skins-4|d to SJ-d, butchers' green -is i)d to Gs Gd tttfn. Hides—ln sympathy with fflffi Australian market heavy hides showed a drop, but for light there was good competition at steady prices. We quote—Light cows 11s Gd to 15s, medium 15s Gd to 17s, heavy to 18s 3d, extra heavy up to 20s ; light ox 18s to 20s, medium 21s to 23, heavy up to 25s Gd. Tallow —Rough fat Us to 15s, tallow in tins 15s 9d.
The New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—At our sale on Friday we offered a large catalogue of wool, skins, hides', and a moderate quantity of tallow. There was a fair attendance or- buyers, and prices ot all good skins, wood and hides were well maintained, but for inferior skins and tallow the bidding was slack. We quote : — Wool : Crossbred fleece s£d to 6£d per lb, lambs (seedy) S J, fairly clean (free from seed) to 6id, crutchings from to Gd (according to condition). Sheepskins: Fine crossbred ajjd merino Gkl to coarse dflpbred t J short-woolled 5M to Gd, broken and dead and inferior pelted 3£d to lambskins 4kl to o£d. Hides: Light cow from 12s to 20s 3d for heavy, ox from 16s to 2Gs, calves Is to 2s -Id each. Tallow :In tins at from 15s to lGs per cwt.
