Some littlo time ago the fossil remains of a very large animal were found on tho shores of a small lako a few miles from Colac, Victoria. Tho bones were collected by a local resident who had them sent to the Melbourne University, and a letter has been received that tho bones aro part of tho skeleton of a very large animal (extinct) which somewhat resembles the wombat in appearance. It is known to naturalists as the diprotodon, named so because of the enormous size of its front teeth. Tho skull was over three foot long, and it is considered tho animal was as big as a rhinoceros. r.RISK, lsor POSITIVE.
