PERILS OF THE SEA.

A Storm -Tossed Barque.

(Received To-day, at 10.35 a.m.)

Sydney, This Day,

The barque Cairnshore, which sailed for Callao on the 11th with a cargo of wheat, has returned to port disabled. She met with a series of gales on 18th, when fifty miles off the New Zealand coast. A fierce squall stripped all her canvas, many sails being carried out of the gaskets. It also threw the ship on her beam ends, her position being serious. Next day the weather moderated, and the cargo was re-trimmed.

The return voyage was made with great difficulty. The hull and cargo are not damaged.
