A DESTRUCTIVE CYCLONE.
Inhabitants in Great Distress.
Considerable Loss of Life
(Received To-day, at 9.6 a.m.) London, Last Night. A cyclone devastated the island of Bounion.
Thousands are without food or shelter, and the crops and bridges haye been destroyed.
It is estimated that forty thousand pounds will be required to relieve the immediate distress.
Twenty-four residents were killed,
[Bounion Island, in the Indian Ocean, belongs to the French. Its population is 166,000.]
