WE LIQUOR TRAFFIC.

(By Telegraph — Press Association),

Auckland, This Day.

A conference of members of the Anglican Synod was held, to-day, to consider the question of reform in the liquor traffic. The Bey. Harper presided. The scheme submitted was one of municipalisation. Each city, borough, or county to be constituted a district, and to have absolute control over the entire retail trade in the district. The hotels would be managed by managers appointed by the Municipal or County Councils, and the profits would be devoted in such a way as would not tempt the Council to push business for the sake of profit.
