AKITIO COUNTY COUNCIL.
A special meeting of this Council was held at the County Office, Pongaroa. Present: Crs Armstrong, Bowie, Birch, Burling, and Carolan. The following tenders for papa burning were received and dealt with: — Dillon's-road, 570 yards, Clark and Wright, os per yard (accepted); Junction, Manuhare, and" Waihi-roads, 500 yards, J. Gardner and Co., 4s 9d per yard (accepted), Hugbes and Groves, 5s per yard; Groves' to Bond'e, 410 yards, Hughes and Groves, 4s 6d per yard (accepted)—the Engineer to arrange to have an additional 170 yards burnt. The Eoads Department wrote stating that the balance of subsidy had been reinstated on the Waiotiaki Eoad. Eeceived. —The same gave notice that various roads had been declared County roads. Moved by Cr Burling, seconded by Cr Carolan, that the Council object to taking over these roads until the main roads are drained and metalled and the by-roads formed and drained. The Lande Department wrote refusing section 16, Pongaroa suburbs, as a pound reserve. Tue Clerk was instructed to apply for another section. Messrs Hennessey and Petersen waited upon the Council, asking for an additional £20 on the Mangahina-road contract, as they had omitted to include the cost of culverts in their contract. Moved by Cr Armstrong, seconded by Cr Carolan, that the application be not entertained.'
Accounts, amounting to £130 9s lid, were passed for payment.
