FOOTBALL.

The Maorilanders in Australia. Arrival at Maitland. An Official Welcome. Splendid Weather for Tomorrow's Match. (Received To-day, at 12.6 a.m.) West Maitland, This Day. Tho New Zealand footballers arrived at Maitland this morning, and were officially welcomed by tho Mayor and officials of the local Union. There is every prospect of splendid weather for the match against the Northern Combined District, to-mor-row. The team to represent the visitors is tho same as that which played against Queensland on Saturday, except that Long will be given a spell, and his place among the forwards will bo taken by Given.

New Zealand admirers of the Bugby game (writes the Wanganui Chronicle) have every reason to bo proud of their representatives in Australia. The New Zealand team continues to demonstrate , its superiority over the Australian teams, and there is every likelihood of the men returning homo with a record that will be hard to eclipse. So far, they havo . won overy match, and in six out of the seven contests their victories have been secured with comparative ease. The most striking testimony of the success achieved by the team is that the New Zealanders have put together no less than 169 points, while only ten points havo beon scored against them. In five out of the seven matches played, no scores at all have been registered against the New Zealanders. This is certainly a creditable performance. It is to be hoped that the men will " keep their heads "for the remainder of the tour, and that they will return to New Zealand boaring their "blushing honours" with tho modesty that becomes true sportsmen.
