I am pleased to say that we shall soon havo direct communication with tho outsido world, in tho shapo of telephone, Mr W. C. Buchanan having secured tho necessary signatures to the guarantee. This will bo a great boon to tho district, besides being a great adjunct to business relations.

Tho vory peculiar position of our school, which is situato at To Wharau, has boon placed beforo tho Education Board. Tho school was erected, it appoars, on a site according to some old survey plan. As it now stands it has no legal frontage to tho East Coast-road. Tho Committee aro now moving in the matter, to havo tho plot on which tho school stands re-surveyed according to tho present road.

Much improvement has boon effected in tho productiveness of the country ii: the immediato vicinity of To Wharau. many parts of which arc now undo) cultivation.
