Holtr-os, who attempfcod to swim from Dover to Cape Grisnez, abandonod the attempt whon six miles from tho French coast, owing to sickness.

M. A. Holbein, who started from Grisnoz, was taken out within a milo of Dover parade. Ho had been immersed over 23 hours, and had a great struggle to advance against tho tide at the finish. | This is Holbein's third attempt, and nearest of all to success.]
