SMALL-POX ON A HOME
STEAMER.

The steamer Wakanui, from London via the Cape and Hobart, arrived yesterday afternoon. The vessel has a number of returned troopers on board, including thirty-three for Australia. An outbreak of small-pox occurred on board the vessel before her arrival at the Cape, two of the crew being affected. On account of this the Australian troopers wore not permittod at Hobarfc to land, and tho vessel came on to Auckland.
Owing to the quarantine station at Motuihi being occupied with other cases, the vessel will, unless instructions are received to the contrary, bo ordered direct to "Wellington.
