THE DRAINAGE SCHEME.

* Masterton District High School to be Connected. In reference to the proposed work of connecting the Mastcrton District High School with the drainage system the • Engineer reported at last night's meeting of the Borough Council that his estimate of the cost was £160. The only difficulty regarding the work was that the drains would be very shallow in one locality, and the road would require raising to sufficiently cover the pipes. The Mayor remarked he had no idea that the cost was so small, or else he would have voted to have the work completed before. He considered it very essential to the safety of the school children, and moved that the drainage be proceeded with. Cr Eton seconded the proposition, which was agreed to. On the motion of Cr Ewington it was resolved to have the trenching and fill-ing-in done by tender.
