GREYTOWN NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent!. Friday. Tho entertainment given in tho * Foresters' Hall, lust night, in aid of the Public School, was, as anticipated, a grand success. The attendance of" the public was large the hall being full. Tho Greytown Band discoursed musio outside the Hall prior to the commencement of tho entertainment. The first '• part of the programme consisted of a cantata," King Alfred and the Danes," The orchestra opened with an overture. Then followed a chorus, tenor solo ; by •*' HrT. J. Bowse, male quartette, con. ' tralto solo 'by Miss Ella Gallagher, 1 duet by Messrs Baillio and Bowse,. "■ ' 1 i bass solo by Mr Baillie, and other 1 i musical items', which were very nicely ; ' rendered. ,Mr Shearer- as : condiiofor, and Miss Udy as pianist, deserve much' ' • ' - praise for tho way the cantata in all its parts was so successfully given.
