At a public meeting of the Prohibitionist and Moderate l'arty to consider tlio question of enforcing the provisions of tho Licensing Act, the following resolutions were carried : " That this meeting calls upon tho Government to enforce the provisions of tho Licensing Act in their entirety." "Tlmt with a view to suppress illicit drinking in hotels, this meeting requests the Government to amend tbo Licensing Act by tho inclusion of a clause taken from the English Act, which makes it an offence for a person to bo in licensed premises during prohibited hours, be not being either n lodger or a traveller." " That these resolutions bo forwavded to tbe Premier, and copies of them to the Parliamentary representatives of tlio Auckland proyinee, with tv. request that would urge upon the Government the necessity for giving effect to them."
