HEAVY GALE AT AUCKLAND.

During yesterday and to-day it heavy gale, accompanied 'by much rain, lias been blowing from the north-east. The vessels which have come in during the day have reported very thick weather outside, the gale being strong on the coast, The Tarawera had a very rough trip from the North Cape, owing to the heavy wind and seas which she encountered.

The barque Kathleen Hilda bad to lie outside the gulf all night, the weather being too thick for her to enter.
