The New Zealand Rifle Association's annual meeting was oponed by tlio Mayoress this afternoon, and tho lady in the tirst shot nearly scored tlio possible, the inner disc coining up on the line of tho bnlls-oyo in a good direction. There was a fnir'attendanco of the public at the opening ceremony.

Tho Hon, Tims, Thompson, as Minister of Defence, in iv short speech congratulated tho Association on.the position it held, and he promised that overy ivould be given by tlio Government, Major Somervillo replied and then tlio shooting commenced. Only tho 200 yards range of tlio Nelson Match, not counting for tlio belt, was completed nnd the position was kneeling, sittim*, or standing. There was some capital shooting,mid the leaders are Wilson, Woodville, (the possible) 35 ; King, Onmnru, 31; McKay, Chislclmrch, 31; H.
