Messrs J, Howlem and Co. report at their Pahiatua "stock sale on Saturday as follows; Sheep and cattle came forward in large numbers. The attendance of buyers was good, but bidding under the hammer was dull. We, however, quitted some 1600 sheep and a fair number of cattle before the close of the day. We quote: shorn wethers, 6/4 lo 7/3; ewes in wool, 9/-; woolly hoggets, 7/6 to 8/3; yearlings, 29/- to 37/-; 2-year steers, CO/-; fat cows, 67/6 to 76/■: dairy cows, CO/-. Pigs, slips, 4/- to 6/-; stores. 12/to 16/-.
