'Wellington Trotting Qlub, A meeting of gentlemen desirous of forming a Trotting Club for Wellington was held last night at the New Zealander Hotel. Mr H. D. Crawford occupied the chair, and the aitendanee numbered over a dozen. At a previous meeting several gentle* men who had been constituted a provisional committee had been provided with canvassing lists. These were presented last night, when it was found that over 70 names of intending members ut a subscription of one guinea per anotiui had been received, The Club, which is to be called the Wellington Tiotting Club, was then formally constituted, Mr H, D. Crawford being appointed president, Mr J, H, Pollock secretary, and Mr J, K. Hamilton treasurer. Other officers were appointed subject to their consent, as many of them were not present. The Secretary ww instructed to take measures for affiliating the Club with the Canterbury Trotting Association, and it is understood the first race meeting will take place at an early date, either at Island Bay or in the neighbourhood of Kilbirnie.
