CRICKET
The oricket match, Tenui-Whareama v, Whakataki-Castle Point, played in Messrs Maunsell's paddock, resulted in another victory for Whakataki by seven wickets. Little can be said in favor of the play on the Tenui side, in the first innings being very weak. With the exception of • Tory's longstopping, the bowling and fielding was also very indifferent throughout the game. The'Whakataki team, on the other hand, showed some fair cricket, and are evidently im-' proving in bowling and fielding, The same was witnessed by a number of spectators who appeared to enjoy themselves There was only one exhibition of rowdyism, caused by an individual the worse for liquor wishing to get up a fight. It is a pity that these little annoyances are not stopped when there is a policeman'on the ground, Too much credit cannot be given to Host Rogers, of the Club Hotel, Castle Point, for the manner in which he catered for the cricketers and the public.
