There were some nominated immigrants amongst them for Wellington, but no Government immigrants,. A case of disputed trusteeship was argued before Justice Richmond. The point of law raised was whether, as has been done in the case of Henry McCardle, a single creditor, being tho only one in a bankrupt estate, can'convene himself into meeting to begin with; vote himself into the chair to go on with ;and in conclusion appointed himself trustee. The Judye sustained the objection raised by the counsel for debtor, and cited a precedent afforded by the case of Alport of Christchurch. The trustee was therefore appointed by thp Registrar. In view of the anticipated reimposition of full duties on tea and large quantities,of those articles are being taken out of bond in all parts of the colony. Cabman Loughram, charged with assaulting the Superintendent of Police, was
fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment. The cabman nearly . drove over Inspector James and his wife, and when tlu» Inspector followed liim io the stables, telling him ; who he was, .the cabman violently assaulted him, The-man in charge of the horse was fined £5 and costs for
