A GOOD BARGAIN.

"Stella," the Pari? gossiper of the Sydney Morning Herald, relates the following capital story:—" A slight ripple of surprise and curiosity has been created on the surface of Paris society by the announcement that the Prince de Broglio Revel, Lieutenant of Hussars, has retired from the army to enter the Church; but he is not the first of his family who has belonged to the priesthood, for in the days of the Regent Duke of Orleans, an Abbe de Broglio held the Abbe of Mont-Saint-Michael, and a curious anecdote of the time explains how he obtained it. His brother, the Count de Broglio, was dining ouc day with the too-famous Regent, when the host asked him how he liked the wine. He replied, Very well/ your Highness; but I have tasted better.' ' Where,' inquired tlio Rogent. 'At the house of my brother the Abbo,'' Oh, indeed,' said the Duke;' I must try some-of your brother's wine.' As soon as the Princely ecclesiastic was informed of his Highness's wish , he sent him GOO bottles of his excellent Burgundy, which the Regent found delicious. ' But,' said he, ( I must pay for it,' The Abbe, onlearningwliat the Duke had said, sent in the following bill:—' For GOO bottles of Burgundy, 0000 ; for the bottles, 0000; for transport to the Palais Royal, OOOOf, total, the Abbey of St. Michael.'! The Regent, on reading this bill, laughed heartily, and exclaimed,' Capital; 'it is really dog-cheap!' and signed the appointment on the spot, thus conferring on the Abbe de Brogliea benefice of £I2OO a year that cost him absolutely nothing."
