THE FREE STATE

FUTURE VERY BRIGHT (Per Press Association — Cqpyright) LONDON, January 2. The “Daily Mail's” Dublin correspondent states: “Not since the AngloIrish Treaty was signed seven years ago has the Free State’s future been more bright. A stable Government ha s been established, crime has diminished remarkably, and trade is on the upgrade.

“A year ago the country’s adverse balance was more than £16.009.000. At the end of November this had fallen to £12,000,000 as a result of reduced imports and inc-eased exports. Irish eggs, butter, and bacon now command top price on the English market.

“Tourist booking to Ireland has been begun in many United States centres and six liners called at Galway during the season where there were none a few years ago.”
