TAYLOR—CROMIE.

A wedding of considerable interest to Christchurch and South Canterbury residents was solemnised at St. Augustine’s Church, Waimate, on Wednesday, when Gladys Winifred, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Cromie, of “Glenbower,” Wai hao Downs, was married to Alister Lumsden, only son of Mr and Mrs A. L. Taylor, of Timaru. The Rev. E. Chard, of Wailiao Downs, officiated, and Miss Mumford played the nuptial music. The bride, who was given away by her father, was beautifully frocked in ivory French crepe georgette daintily mounted on an underdress of silver lace with touches of pearls and diamante trimming. The bridal veil, exquisitely bordered with Limerick lace, fell from a coronet with orange blossoms, and a choice bouquet of pastel tinted chrysanthemums and lilium auratum lillies lent the necessary colour to a becoming gown. Silver shoes and stockings completed the toilet. The bride was attended by her cousin , Miss Davidson, of Kingsdown, who wore a flame coloured frock of georgette, simply fashioned with ecru lace. She wore a bandeau of oriental colouring, and carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums to tone. Mr Arthur Hatch, of Christchurch was best man. At the conclusion of the ceremom a reception was held in the adjoining hall, where the guests were received by Mr and Mrs J. Cromie, the latter wearing a navy blue crepe de chene frock with biege trimmings, hat to tone and beautiful fox furs. Mrs Ma.'. Bell, Mrs Cromie’s daughter, who assisted her mother, wore a French model crepe de ehene frock of peacock blue, cut on classical lines, and a very becoming felt hat to match.

Mrs A. L. Taylor, of Timaru, mother of the bridegroom, wore a taste fully embroidered black crepe de chene gown and seal coat with skunk collar. Her hat of black faille satin was mounted with oriental feather motifs. The table was beautifully decorated with sulphur daisies, cosmos, and autumn leaves. The usual toasts were honoured, and accompanied musically by the many guests present, who included: Mr and Mrs A. L. Taylor (Timaru), Rev. and Mrs E. Chard, Mesdame Reid, E. Cromie,Wayland, Davison, Milne, Thompson, Kelcher, Preece, Wright, Briggs, Falloon, Marshall, Mcßae (2), Call'd, Asher, Turnbull, Misses Milne, Thompson, Menzies (Christchurch), Mewburn (2), Nurse Kaye, Nurse Sanders, Messrs E. Mi’ and Mrs Alister Taylor subsequently left by motor for a projected tour of the North Island, the bride wearing a smart ensemble suit of petunia cloth with facings of champagn georgette anti squirrel tail fur collar and cuffs.
