WINTER SHOW.

WAIMATE SOCIETY’S FIXTURE. There was a large attendance at the Wintei- Show all day Saturday, when the Annual Show was brought to a close. The Society is to be congratulated upon the success which attended this popular annual fixture, which in future should be well supported by outside exhibitors During the evening several guessing competitions were held, which helped to swell the receipts considerably. Mr T. Wilce presented the various cups won at the fixture, and congratulated the recipients on their success. He thanked the exhibitors and public for the generous manner in which they had supported the Show, and bespoke a like support in future years. Tn the course of his remarks he expressed the thanks of the Society to the following for their valuable aid:—Mr F. Pollock for timber; Methodist and Presbyterian Churches, Messrs Newell and Jones and the Friendly Societies for tables; Mr J. Betten for storage; the lady stewards, Msdames Betten and Walker; lady judges, Mesdames G. J. Shackleton, Geo. Manchester and John Bitchener; donors of special prizes and cups; donors of produce to the funds of the Society; Messrs McCulloch and Richards for sheep; Mr J. Johns for fowls; Mr W. Chamberlain for potatoes; the bands and orchestra; Mr W. E. Taylor for auctioneering services; and the Power Board (Mr Stewart) for lighting. At intervals throughout both Friday and Saturday evenings, delightful music was provided by the Jovial Orchestra. The Pipe Band played in front of the hall on Saturday evening, the Silver Band having played at the Show on the Friday night.
