Executive Council of the Irish Free State) and 'Sil- James Craig (Prime Minister of Northern Ireland), separately had lengthy conferences with Mr- Baldwin/ at Downing Street. . I It is believed this action is related to I the, expectation that Donegal may be handed over to Northern Ireland. . Other specials ' erected sandbag barricades near Clady. After interviewing Mr Baldwin, Air Cosgrave and Sir James Craig announced, that they had no statement to make. . [The 12th clause of the Irish Free State Treaty of KT??, which- has' been frequently mentioned during the crisis, declares that the Boundary Commission: “Shall determine, in accordance with the wishes of the inhabitants, so far as may be compatible with economic and geographicalconditions, the boundaries between Northeni Ireland and the rest of Ireland, and, for the purposes of the Government of Ireland Act, 1920 (this is the Act which constituted Northern Ireland), and of this instrument, the. boundary of Northern Ireland shall be such as may be determined by such commission.” The chief dispute has centred about the control of the counties of Tyrone and Fermanagh, in which there are large Nationalist populations.]
