CORRESPONDENCE
POWER BOARD MATTERS. (To the Editor Daily Advertiser). Sir.—Following Mr. Kirk’s letter and the letters and action of the Timaru Borough ’ Council, who are in precisely the same position as Waimate, might I ask Mr. Dash and the Waimate Borough Council what course they are taking in regards to supply Waimate’s' needs for electricity when it has been shown that the Power Board has no legal standing, therefore they have no authority to carry on and eainnot under the present conditions levy rates. It must come as a shock to the subscribers to the Power Board’s loan to find out now that they have lent their money on valueless security. Another question 1 should like to ask, Is it not a general rule that all contracts from local bodies, also all appointments should be advertised and everyone given the chance of applying for the positions and not cut and dried as appears lately in Waimate. —I am etc., Ratepayer.
