The application to the High Court for the release of Walsh and Johannsen on bail in order to facilitate the preparation of their cases in the various courts was refused. A meeting of the Trades’ Labour Council discussed the pending deportations and decidied to endorse the scheme for the holding of a series of irritation strikes in as many industries as possibles The debate was a heated one. NOT FAVOURED IN VICTORIA. INDIVIDUAL PROTESTS ONLY APPROVED. MELBOURNE, this day. A conference of unions strongly opposed, a general or irritation strikes bn the deportation issue. It decided that the only action to be taken would be protests by each individual organisation.
