There appears to be an impression abroad in some quarters that the Imperial Government has offered to purchase the New Zealand output of cheese for next season at tlio price of HJd per lb. This is entirely incorrect as is shown by a cable just received from the High Commissioner reading as follows: — “Understand that rumours current New Zealand that Imperial -Government considering purchase next season’s output butter and cheese. There is nq truth in this.” SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, August B.' The third series of wool sales has commenced. Competition is keen and late rates arc well maintained.
