GENERAL GODLEY.
, .MR PARRS-.CHARGES. PRIME MINISTER DEPRECATES DISCUSSION. The Prime Minister, speaking in the House, said he knew the memjher for Eden was actuated by a strong sense of duty, but he (Mr Massey) did not agree with him in the opinions be had expressed in reference to Gene r al Godley. Geueia 1 Rirdwood spoke of General CodIcy in the highest possible terms., and be (Mr Massey) was quite. certain that General Rirdwood had the highest possible opinion of General Godley's military abilities. He (Mr Massey) would not say that General Godley wa.sf a popular man. He was not popular in the sense that Generals Rirdwood, RussoU, and Richardson were, for he w;w net popular in the accepted skmso of the word. It was! a wrong thing lor members to speak in disparaging terms of officers of the D-d mcc Force 'both here and at the front, when we weiv at war, because it tended to undermine the men's confidence in their officers.
