Men have, he e n leaving the country .. in thousands for two yeais past for the purpose of lighting its battles, and money is needed as much as mem, in order to secure a victory over the common enemy. You and 1 have not been able to take any part in the- fighting, but wo can do our part effectually by finding tho money to maintain the men who are fighting. Will you assist by subscribing personally and b v bringing tho matter under the- notice of every ono of your Mends, and urging them to help. Tho country needs the usd of your money now. Hitherto most of the money required for the war has been obtained from the Old Country, though the conditions of life are far harder there than they are hero. While there are many New Zealanders brave enough to fight and die for their country, is it to be said of those, who stayed behind that they were too moan to pay? I shall bo very glad if you will do all in your power to assist in preventing such a reproach 'being deserved 1 . Many of us are debarred from firing leaden 'bullets, but now we all have a chance of firing the silver ono.
