WAIMATE METHODIST CHURCH.
The Harvest Festival in connection with the above Church was celebrated yesterday. In spite of cold and threatening: weather a large congregation gathered in the morning when lie v. A. S. Morrison, M.A., preached a sermon suitable to (he occasion from the text "The Corn of, Heaven" Ps 78—24. A fine congregation assembled in the evening the pulpit being occupied by the Minister of the Church who tovk as his text, "The Sluggard will not plow by realson of the cold; there-Core shall he be in harvest and have nothing. Proverbs 20— i. Special harvest hymns and anthems were sung by the choir Miss O. Cameron efficiently presiding fiiat the organ. The church was tastefully decorated for the occasion by the choir. The celebrations will be continued this evening when a social will be held at 7.30 p.m., the ladies of the congregation providing supper, songs and anthems by the choir and friends and short addresses by the ministers. At the conclusion of the social the fruit, grain and vegetables used in the decorations will be sold bv auction.
