Funeral.

Yesterday afternoon the body of the late Gunner Hazleton, Permanent Artillery, who was killed bv falling over a cliff at Lyttelton, was brought to Waimate under escort of Corporal Bryan and four more of the deceased’s comrades. The hearse was in readiness, and the coffin, covered by the Union Jack, was borne out by the Artillerymen. The sad procession, preceded by a tiring party of the Waimate Rifles under Sergeant Stevenson, proceeded to the Waimate cemetery, where the last rites were performed by the Rev. A. S. Morrison. A large number of people followed to the crave, and many beautiful wreaths were seal. Tiie firing party consisted of Privates Emerson, Adams, Butcher, Kent, Dash, Saunders, Kirkcaldy, and Bugler Reeves, who sounded the “ Lust Post ” over the grave after the volley.
