Davit last night asked tho meeting of supporters of th» trading stamp syuiecn to confirm the action of himself and Mr Cook in Bending a petition upon the subject to Parliament, he added, "This action won't cost you anything." In aniwer to questions from the curious, he explained tfia,t an influential Australian Coupon Company was bearing all costs in regard to tho petition praying Parliament not to pass the Trading Stamp and Coupon Abolition Bill without giviDg certain parties interested ft hearing. Asked further why the Austrian Company should tp.ko such an interest in tho niovsmem, Mr Davis said that apparently tha company fsar9d that if th& Now Zealand Parliament passed an abolition act on fcho lines of tho biU j uotv before the House tho Australia a ■ Parliament* would follow the example. It wa3 further intimated that the managing director of tho Australian Coupon Company was row on his way to Wellington to further the interests of his company and would axvire have next week. Tha meeting set up a committee to meat the visitor, and also to interview the manager of the Trading Siamp Company which is *t present carrying on operations in Wellington.
