GREETED BY BACKED HODSE. There was a packed house at the Princess Theatre last evening when Pollards screened as the star item in an excellent pictorial programme the picture pourtrayal of the leading incidents in connection with the Goldfields .luhilee celebrations held in Westland last month. The Jubilee film is full of absorbing and interesting incidents. The civic reception to His Excellency the Governor is clearly shown, the occupants of the platform being clearly recognisable. The. great gathering in Cass .Square forms another interesting section and some idea of the immense crowd which visited Hokitika for the celebrations can be gained from the pictures showini' tile procession passing along llevell Street and the functions in Cass Square. Several mast interesting groups of pioneers have lieen placed on record pietorially while some excellent pictures of the public bui.dings of Hokitika were screened. The echo...tion. at Ross occupy many minutes while the big picnic at hake Muhioapiia forms another interesting section. The Governor’s trip to Lake Kanieil and his subsequent visit to the famous Dorothy Falls are clearly shown. The Garden Party at “Garston” is most interesting from the ladies’ standpoint and many familiar faces can be recognised and many interesting incidents are placed on record. The picture is brimful of local interest and the chorus of praise and hearty applause which followed its .screening were thoroughly deserved. In addition to the star film an attractive selecting of pictures was screened and thoroughly appreciated. in view of the fact that about two hundred people were unable to gain admittance last evening, the Jubilee Committee have again been able to avail themselves of the generosity and assistance of Mr. Tom Pollard, and in response to many requests the Gchllield’s Jubilee celebrations films wil< ho shown again next NVednesdny evening in conjunction with Pollard’s pictures.
