HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD ELECTION.

THE HOKITIKA POLL,

The poll in connection with the election of three representatives to represent the Hokitika Borough Council on the Westland Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard was held yesterday. There was a great deal of interest taken in the contest. A feature of the election was the large number of plumpers cast, Mr Hock securing 2J, Mr Tourney 24, Mr Robinson 8, and Messrs Blank and Goodrich two each.. The Returning Officer, Mr A. A. Andrewes, declared the result at 7.45 as follows: H. B. Hock 186 J. Toomey 178 T. Robinson 149 G. H. Blank 102 W. H. R. Goodrich 79 A large number of voters had assembled to hear the result of the election. The successful candidates addressed the public, and returned thanks for the honour that had been conferred upon them, the noil-successful candidates also made appropriate speeches.
