HOKITIKA v. ST. MARY'S.

(Junior.)

The above match was played on Cass Square on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a win for Hokitika by three goals to two. The weather was ideal for hockey but a poor exhibition was given. St. Mary's commenced with an attack which was sustained for a short time when Hokitika rallied and carried play to the other end of the field. After pressing for a considerable time, Wallace succeeded in dribbling into the circle and shooting the first goal for the reds. The greens now livenend up and took the ball to Hokitika territory where Toomey shot a doubtful goal, this player being ap'-, parently off-side.. Hokitika attacked strongly for the remainder of the spell but there was no addition to .the score. The second spell opened with a strong attack by the reds and Dykes soon' registered a second goal which appeared to be shot from an off-side position. The reds came again and Dykes was again instrumental in finding the net. The greens here set up a strong attack and O'Donuell wds successful in scoring the second goal for the greens. From this out, St. Mary's attacked strongly and the reds were kept busy defending their goal. For the winners Wallace and Wild (forwards) and Mackay (back) and for St. Mary's O'Donnell and A'Court (forwards) and Downey and Giffney (backs) were the pick. Mr Smith, of Greymouth, was the referee.
