CORRESPONDENCE.
THE HON. RODERICK McKENZIE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,— What is the position in regard to the Rimu Syndicate's application and deposit for the right from Toaroha's falls. The Hon. Roderick MeKenzie is the biggest snag the mining communities have ever bumped against and the delay in dealing with this matter seems nothing short of disgraceful. The present Minister for Mines ii certainly doing more to drive our population out of the district than any Minister that has ever been in office in this country. Other mining districts are like the Coast full up of his overbearing and blocking policy. In a Wellington paper that has been sent to me by a friend, a writer spaaluns of the present Minister for Mine 3, remarks -—"I see that the Christchurch syndicate which has the Parapara iron leases is to make an effort to sell to an American or English syndicate. Now strangely enough, the present Minister for Public Works is the same member for Motueka who induced the Government to have a most objectionable clause inserted into the lease that the late Sir Alfred Cadman had to acquire from the Government, and which caused the English company that would have been formed to throw over the whole concern. You will see from the above that the country is not likely to be much the better for the advent of the above Minister." It looks as if the action of the Hon. Roderick McKenzie will also result in the English capitalists throwing over the promising Rimu mining scheme.— l am, etc., ANTI-RODDY.
