WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL

TUESDAY, 7th SEPTEMBER, 1909 (To sit at noon.)

NOTICES OF MOTION.

I.— The Chairman to move:— "That the accounts for the month of August, 1909, as revised and recommended for payment by the Finance Committee, amounting to £ , be passed for payment." 2. — The Chairman to move: — "Ihat the resolution of the Council of the 9th June, 1909, fixing the payment in respect to the Hokitika railway and road, bridge a sum not exceeding .£SO, on a one-third basis of the total demanded, be and hereby is rescinded. 1 '

3. — The Chairman to move: — "That of the amended demand of £100 for the annual maintenance of Lhe Hokitika railway bridge for road traffic, the Council agrees to pay the sum of £'60 per annum; such payment to be without prejudice to the Council's position as defined in the decision of Mr W. B. Short m respect to the allocation of the payment in regard to the original demand of £280." 4. — The Chairman to move:— " That the Council no wconsider the arrnngements to be made in respect to the provision for permanent offices." 5- — The Chairman to move . — "That the Council now determine the action to be taken in respect to carrying out the annual valuation of mining property for the County of Westland." 6 — Cr Murdoch to move :--"That the - Chairman communicate with the Hon. Postmaster-General urging, in the interests of the people along the route, that the daily mail coach service between Hokitika and Kuraara be continued as heretofore, and that the member for the district be asked to support the request."

7. — Cr Murdoch to move:— "That with the object of strengthening the foregoing request, a petition to the Government be circulated throughout the townships and districts r.ffected, and that the resident roadmen be authorised to assist in having .iame placed before the people affected for signature, and that upon being signed the petition be forwarded to the member for the district, for presentation to the Government."
